Ayurvedic Route to Beautiful Hair and Nails

19 Jun

Author : AyurYoga Eco Ashram

How many times have you looked at someone’s glossy and thick hair, and wondered how is it possible?!

Well, Ayurveda from India could be the answer!

Key to healthy nails and hair as per Ayurveda

As per Ayurveda, healthy nails and hair are a direct result of bone metabolism and hence your diet should be such that it nourishes your bone tissues. However, it should also purify the fat tissues of your body because the health of bone tissues depends a lot on fat issues.

Hence, you should choose food items that simultaneously help in both the departments. People are normally advised to take plenty of calcium for strengthening their bones and nails, but calcium doesn’t help much if the fat issues are filled up with ama, the toxic waste from improper digestion.

Recommended foods as per Ayurveda

You must opt for more bitter-tasting cooked greens, juicy sweet fruits, and green leafy vegetables. Regularly seasoning the vegetables with coriander, cumin, fenugreek and turmeric, sautéed in ghee would help in purification of fat issues and strengthening of the bones. Opting for healthy fats (like ghee or olive oil) and regularly adding shredded coconut to your foods, is also highly recommended.

You must steer clear of food items that are difficult to digest and lead to digestive impurities, for instance, leftovers, packaged foods, deep-fried foods, unhealthy fats, ice-cold drinks, refined sugars, foods straight from the fridge etc.

Eating food items that maintain the right balance and levels of kapha, pitta and vata are also important. Apart from that regular yoga exercises can help you maintain your body’s fat metabolism.

You should also check out the AyurYoga Eco-Ashrams Rasayana Rejuvenation therapy for improvement of your overall vitality, metabolism and immunity.
